By adding a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment to your microneedling, we add growth factors from your blood to your skin to intensify your results.

What to Expect From Microneedling

Step 1: Consultation

During your consultation at Total Skin, your provider will get to know you and ask you about your skin concerns. With this information, we will customize your treatment to fit your individual lifestyle.

Step 2: Treatment

First, we will apply a topical numbing medication to the treatment area. Then, we will use a specialized microneedling device to lightly pierce your skin with tiny needles, stimulating your body’s natural healing response.

Step 3: Results

You can expect to see results in 7 to 10 days after your microneedling session as your skin’s collagen production increases. For best results, we typically recommend a series of 3 treatment sessions.

Care Instructions

Pre-Care Instructions

  • Let your provider know if you have used Accutane within the last 6 months; the recent use of Accutane can cause healing complications.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, let us know. We may recommend a medication to prevent an outbreak leading up to your microneedling treatment.
  • For 24 hours before your microneedling treatment, avoid sun exposure and any retinol skincare products.

Post-Care Instructions

  • For 3 days after your microneedling treatment, avoid activities that may cause sweating and avoid sun exposure. If you spend time outside, wear sunscreen that’s SPF 30 or greater.
  • Don’t wash the treatment area for at least 12 hours or until the following morning.
  • Until all sensitivity in the treatment area has resolved, avoid cleansing brushes and exfoliants, such as retinol, Retin-A, or AHAs/BHAs.
