What is SkinPen® Microneedling?

SkinPen® Microneedling is a non-surgical approach to skin rejuvenation. This minimally invasive treatment utilizes an FDA-cleared device to trigger your body’s natural tissue production processes for a rejuvenated appearance.

The SkinPen® works by creating thousands of precise micro-injuries or "micro-channels" in the dermis, which stimulates new collagen production. This technology takes advantage of the skin's natural healing process. When SkinPen® makes micro-channels in the skin, the skin naturally produces new collagen and elastin in the treatment areas, leading to a fresher skin appearance. We strongly encourage clients to pair this with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) to enhance their overall results.

What skin conditions can SkinPen® Microneedling treat?

How many treatments will I need?

Patients notice an immediate "glow" to their skin following treatment. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after treatment as collagen remodeling continues. For maximum results, it is typically recommended to receive a series of 3 - 5 treatments spaced 4 - 6 weeks apart.

What will happen during the treatment?

Topical numbing cream is typically applied to the treatment area for 30 - 45 minutes prior to the procedure to eliminate most discomfort. The actual procedure typically takes approximately 20 - 30 minutes depending on the size and number of areas treated and the severity of damage on the skin.

What should I expect after the treatment?

Immediately following the procedure, you should expect a sunburn-like sensation, swelling, and redness for 24 – 48 hours. The skin may become dry and flaky several days after as your skin begins to heal over the following week. Your provider will review and provide post-care instructions on how to take care of your skin following the treatment.

Most clients will see an improvement in their skin immediately following the procedure, however it can take approximately 3 – 6 months as the new cells reach the surface of the skin and body’s collagen production increases.
