BROADBAND LIGHT (BBL™)
What is Broadband Light (BBL™)?
Worried your freckles, age spots or rosacea make you look less radiant and older? With our Corrective and Forever Young BBL™ treatments they will be a thing of the past! The light energy delivered by BBL™ will eliminate fine vessels that cause redness and reduce unwanted melanin (pigment) that produces age and sunspots. Your skin will feel smoother, fine lines and pores will be less noticeable, and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. This corrective process will restore your skin to its natural beauty, making it clearer, smoother, vibrant, and younger looking.

Broadband Light (BBL) is a more advanced form of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). As the name implies, it delivers powerful light energy in short, rapid pulses. Although it is often referred to as a laser, they are technically different. Both types of devices work with light energy. However, a laser beam is a single wavelength of light, which targets very specific components in the skin. BBL/IPL utilizes broad-spectrum light, which can be filtered by adjusting the settings on the device.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed varies from patient to patient, and your provider will personalize a treatment plan based on your needs and desired outcomes.

What will happen during the procedure?
The procedure is non-invasive and safe. Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. An ultrasound gel will be applied to the treatment area. When the light is pulsed on the skin you may briefly feel a warm or “rubber band snap” sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. Your procedure may vary in time depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type of procedure performed. Your provider will discuss all your options with you including the benefits, risks and what to expect.

What should I expect after the treatment?
Immediately after your treatment your skin may appear red and have a mild sunburn sensation that should resolve within a few hours or days. Pigmented lesions will darken within 48 hours and flake off over the next 7-14 days for most clients. If redness or vessels are the target, they may disappear, lighten, or appear unchanged but fade over time. The heat and light from the procedure produces new collagen that develops younger, smoother, and more vibrant skin. Results depend on your skin type, the number or treatments, and the area being treated.

How long will it take to recover and what aftercare instructions should I follow?
This is a non-invasive procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, you are able to return to work, and resume most of your activities immediately. Your provider will provide you with more information on what to expect as well as give you an aftercare plan to follow that will involve avoiding direct sun exposure and using sunscreen.
