What to Expect From Lip Filler

Step 1: Consultation

During your initial consultation, we will talk to you about your concerns and desired results. Based on this conversation, your provider will recommend the right filler and customize your treatment plan to your facial profile.

Step 2: Treatment

Depending on the filler, we will apply a topical numbing medication to the injection sites, and the injections themselves may contain lidocaine. This is to ensure your treatment experience is as comfortable as possible.

Step 3: Results

You can expect to see results immediately after treatment, and they’ll last for the next 12 to 18 months! If you experience swelling, your final results will be visible once the swelling resolves, typically within a few days.

Care Instructions

Pre-Care Instructions

  • If you take blood thinners, talk to your medical provider about pausing them during the week leading up to your lip filler appointment.
  • Don’t take aspirin, any NSAIDs, St. John’s Wort, or Vitamin E supplements for a few days before your appointment to decrease the risk of bruising and bleeding.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, ask your provider about medications to reduce the risk of a flare-up caused by the injections.

Post-Care Instructions

  • Use a cold compress to reduce swelling after treatment.
  • Avoid massaging your lips or kissing after treatment to prevent the fillers from migrating.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive heat, including sunlight, UV lamps, and tanning beds, for 24 hours after your lip filler treatment.
