What to Expect from Botox

Step 1: Consultation

A consultation gives our providers a chance to get to know you, your concerns, and your goals better. They confirm you make an excellent candidate for Botox and tailor an injection plan based on your needs.

Step 2: Treatment

After cleansing and preparing the skin, your injector carefully maps out placements for the Botox injections according to your treatment plan. Administering the injections takes only about 15 minutes, and you’re free to return to your normal routine right after.

Step 3: Results

Your injector will explain the aftercare steps you should follow after your procedure. Generally, you can expect to see the results from your Botox in Grand Forks over the next 2 weeks. As the muscles relax, the wrinkles fade, smoothing the skin for the next 3 to 4 months.

Care Instructions

Pre-Care Instructions

  • For 24 hours before your treatment, refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages.
  • Stay properly hydrated before your appointment, and properly moisturize your skin in the days leading up to your appointment.
  • Discontinue retinol skincare products 2 days leading up to your treatment and 2 days after your treatment.
  • About a week before your appointment, talk to your healthcare provider about discontinuing the use of blood thinners. The treatment can be resumed after your injections.

Post-Care Instructions

  • Keep your head upright for at least 4 hours after your appointment to reduce swelling and accelerate recovery.
  • For the first 24 hours, don’t rub or massage the treatment area.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, hot showers, and saunas for the first 24 hours after treatment.
  • Sleep with your face upright and slightly elevated if you are experiencing any swelling post-injection.
