PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP)

What Is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)?
PRP is a concentrated source of platelets, growth factors and cytokines produced naturally in your own body, and stimulates and controls healthy regenerative processes, including collagen and soft tissue remodeling, and thereby improves overall health and rejuvenation. PRP has been used successfully for years to promote improved healing times and optimal results from various surgical and non-surgical procedures, such as microneedling.
PRP Facial
The PRP Facial is a procedure that combines platelet-rich plasma (PRP) with the use of microneedle dermal stimulation - SkinPen Microneedling or VirtueRF Microneedling. The medical microneedle procedure is a method of collagen induction therapy (CIT). The small entries into the dermis cause the skin to respond with collagen which softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, as well as superficial sun damage.
This treatment allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair mechanism by creating micro “injuries” in the skin, which triggers new collagen formation, yet does not pose the risk of permanent scarring. The growth factor-rich topical PRP solution is applied to the skin after microneedling and is effectively absorbed, further enhancing your results, stimulating collagen production and waking up the skin at a cellular level.

Is PRP right for me?

The PRP Facial treatment is customized to the needs of the client and is used to improve the appearance of:
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Acne scars
  • Scars
  • Large pores
  • Fine lines
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Improved healing

Where on the body can PRP be used?

The PRP Facial can be used on all parts of the body: face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back. PRP is great add-on to our laser resurfacing treatments, such as Halo, as well as our RF Microneedling and SkinPen Microneedling services.

What is a PRP Facial treatment like?

The PRP Facial treatment begins with drawing a vial of blood from the patient. The provider places the blood in a centrifuge and spins the blood at a very rapid rate to separate the platelets from the other components of the blood. The platelets are then activated, producing your very own Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP).
Next, the skin is numbed with topical anesthetic cream, so the treatment can be performed with minimal discomfort. Microneedling is then performed over the treatment area creating micro “injuries” in the skin.
The platelet-rich topical PRP solution is then applied to the skin and effectively absorbed, which will stimulate collagen production and wake up the skin at a cellular level. Patients experience zero or very little social downtime.

How many office visits are required?

Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin following treatment. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks.
Results continue to improve up to 6 months after treatment as collagen remodeling continues. While results vary from person to person and by the condition being treated, results are often seen after only two treatments.
For maximum results, it is typically recommended to receive a series of 3-5 treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart with our PRP Facials.
